Recovery After Acute Coronary Syndrome Through Lifestyle Change
Presenter: Adibah
Fathihah Binti Mohd Azhari
Affiliation: Universiti Teknologi MARA
Presentation Type: Oral Presentation (Virtual)
Title: Effect behavioural lifestyle modification among acute coronary
syndrome: A Scoping Review
Acute
Coronary Syndrome (ACS) remains one of the leading contributors to
cardiovascular mortality worldwide. While advanced medical treatments save
lives in the acute phase, long-term recovery heavily depends on sustained
behavioral and lifestyle adjustments. Unfortunately, adherence to these changes
continues to be a global challenge.
At the
International Conference on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Science (CVS-2026),
Miss Adibah Fathihah Binti Mohd Azhari from Universiti Teknologi MARA will
present a comprehensive scoping review examining how behavioral lifestyle
modification influences outcomes among ACS patients.
π Evidence Mapping and Research
Scope
The
review evaluated studies indexed in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science,
focusing on cardiac rehabilitation programs that incorporated structured
behavioral interventions. These included physical exercise programs,
nutritional improvements, smoking cessation strategies, and medication
adherence support.
Out of
hundreds of screened articles, selected studies highlighted measurable impacts
of lifestyle modification on cardiovascular outcomes.
❤️ Impact on Patient Outcomes
The
findings consistently demonstrated that behavioral interventions significantly
enhance quality of life in ACS patients. Several studies also indicated a
reduction in recurrent major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), reinforcing
the value of comprehensive rehabilitation.
Despite
these benefits, participation rates in cardiac rehabilitation remain
low—especially among women and underserved communities. One key gap identified
is the underutilization of dietary interventions in secondary prevention
strategies.
π©⚕️ The
Critical Role of Nursing Leadership
The
review emphasizes that nurses play a pivotal role in bridging treatment and
prevention. Beyond acute care management, nurses are essential in patient
counseling, monitoring, medication guidance, and motivating long-term adherence
to heart-healthy behaviors.
Behavioral
lifestyle modification is not optional—it is central to reducing recurrence
risk and improving survival after ACS.

The
International Conference on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Science (CVS-2026)
will take place virtually from March 26–28, 2026. Organized by Mathews
International LLC, the event gathers global cardiology experts, researchers,
clinicians, and healthcare professionals to discuss innovations in
cardiovascular science and patient care.
The
conference will feature keynote sessions, research presentations, panel
discussions, and collaborative networking opportunities across various
